The KAZ is a manually operated shaft disconnecting device designed to connect or separate the main engine from the propeller shaft to fulfill Safe Return to Port requirements for instance.
The IFPS consists of a single-stage gear unit, one or multiple generators and associated frequency converters and the transformers for the connection to the ship’s grid. Main advantage: The system’s power rating is scalable from 500 kW up to 2,000 kW without the demand of additional axial space.
